About the Winemakers:

Alex Oh and Samuel Hilbert met in the summer of 2010 over sunset and wine at Golden Gardens, bonding over their shared passion. Alex brought an Entre-deux-Mers, Samuel a Pinotage, and they eagerly discussed both wines. At the time, Samuel lived in Woodinville, served on the Chamber of Commerce, and worked weekends at wineries. Alex lived in downtown Seattle, working in law and science while also gaining experience in tasting rooms and wine science.

In 2012, they decided to turn their passion into a business. Alex trained at UC Davis’s Viticulture and Enology Program, while Samuel attended Washington State University’s program, focusing on local terroir. Today, Aluel Cellars operates three Seattle tasting rooms in Capitol Hill, Ballard, and Queen Anne, showcasing Washington wines in a traditional style. They are now developing a new production facility, vineyards, and a seasonal tasting room on 15 acres on the Key Peninsula.
